Joseph Eliabson Maniragena is the Partnership and Liaison Officer at African Monitor (AM),
a Pan-African Organisation founded by the Archbishop Njongo Ndungane (Emeritus Archbishop
Cape Town) to monitor development resource commitments, delivery and impact on the grassroots,
and to bring strong additional African voices to the development agenda.
Joseph is a Youth Development Activist, a Social Entrepreneur, and is passionate about migration and social cohesion issues. He holds a Masters degree in Public Management from Cape Pininsula University of
Technology (CPUT) in Cape Town.
At AM, Joseph coordinates country teams that are implementing the #theCitizenReport, a youth
campaign in 10 African countries that empowers young people to contribute to the implementation of
the SDGs.
He founded a youth association for environmental protection (AJEPROC) which created more
than 35 youth environmental clubs in high schools/Rwanda,-those clubs have planted more than
35000 trees in the Western Province- Rwanda.
Joseph is also the founder of a youth organisation called Crystal Horizons Youth Centre (CHYC).
The organisation strives to mobilise, motivate, engage and mentor young people to play a significant
role in addressing some of the challenges facing their communities.
Prior to joining AM, Joseph was the Programmes Manager at the Agency for Refugee Education Skills
Training and Advocacy (ARESTA) in Cape Town.
